Fueled By Ramen- A Dramatic iPod Story

HI GUYS. I'M NOT DEAD. =D

Actually, there hasn't been much to blog about. I mean, this month I'm gonna see Hotspur, and there's all kinds of school drama going on. But none of that is really blog-worthy.

What I do want to tell you about is how I dropped my iPod touch in a bowl of ramen! Yesterday, I suddenly decided to eat ramen for lunch. So there I am at the table, holding my iPod in one hand and a fork in the other. Suddenly, I lost my grip on the iPod, and next thing I knew, it was sitting in the bowl. The external speaker stopped playing music, and the screen flickered a few times before I was able to fish it out and turn it off. I freaked out for two seconds, then I tore off the case and got a paper towel to dry the iPod off. After it was dry on the outside, I let it sit for about 45 minutes.

Then, like an idiot, I decided to turn it back on. Magically, it turned on without a problem. I breathed a sigh of relief, then decided to make sure it had sound. Sadly, the external speaker did not work, but headphones did. I was a little sad, but not too much. I mean, I was pretty lucky that it even worked at all.

So, I resumed using it like I always do. But then, another hour later, the backlight suddenly stopped working. That was a huge problem. THEN, to make things worse, an acrid smokey smell came from the iPod, and the metal on the back turned about 200 degrees. I basically assumed that I had killed my iPod, and I got Apple's customer service number ready, trying to think of a good lie.

Then, I found an internet tip on fixing iPods that get dropped in water. Basically, you stick them in an airtight bag of rice, and let the rice draw out the water for a few days. I figured I didn't really have anything to lose, so I stuck it in a bag of rice for the next 12 hours or so. Right before bed, I decided to see how it was doing. Turned it on, and there it was in all its original glory. The backlight was back, and so was the external speaker. But I didn't want to take any chances, so I left it in the bag overnight.

This morning, I took it out and tested everything. It's good as new, although I have a sneaking suspicion there's still some pepper and salt inside it from the ramen. Either way, it's been working great for the past 4 hours, and I am one lucky, happy camper.

THE END

Current Music: Everything You Ever- Dr. Horrible Soundtrack
It's been awhile since I last posted! I've just been busy. :)

First things first! If you like comedy, musicals, or super-villain movies, then you NEED to watch Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog. It came out last year during the writer's strike, and it's really amazing. Don't be put off by the title. My friend told me to watch it, and I thought it sounded stupid. But I was floored. Don't expect any incredible special effects though, haha. Also, watch out, the ending is kind of a punch to the face.

So, I went to DC this weekend, and had an incredible time. My family and I toured around all over the place, and then we went to a Lydia/Black Gold/All The Day Holiday concert. All the bands were very good, especially Black Gold, who I was there for. I was a little put off by their vanishing act after the show to the 21+ room, but that's okay. Their family and girlfriends were there. It was a little awkward, because although I would have liked to have fangirled a bit over Eric while BG was onstage, I didn't want his girlfriend to kill me. So I kept my distance, haha. That was kinda difficult, though, considering the venue was extremely tiny and I was on the barrier.

As for other things in DC, I saw a lot of amazing artworks, statues, and such. Oh, and the Hope Diamond! That was super exciting. I also rode in a cab for the first time. It was scary, I have an irrational fear of taxis. Oh, and the Capitol building, Washington Memorial, etc. were all incredible.

And now, I have to go to bed! G'nite!

Current Music: Never Walk Alone- Madina Lake
The new Madina Lake song is incredible, especially lyrically. It's just... wow.
Saw them last night in Virginia. Incredible show, I'm going to talk about it under the cut.

Pics and Vids are up! They're the best part, haha.

PEOPLE.

THE WORLD IS NOT GOING TO END IN 2012, SO STFU.
...
OH, AND ALSO:
The Hadron Collider isn't going to cause a black hole, either. Stop worrying over that thing.

Everyone just needs to chill. Like, now.

In other news, I'm almost done with Final Fantasy VII. That game is incredible. =D

So, I'm updating this from my spiffy new iPod touch. Seriously, this thing is basically a computer.

Anyway, Merry Christmas everyone! I hope you all had a good one. Mine was incredible. Along with this mini computer, I also got gift cards, a wii game, two CDs, lots of clothes, a purse, and best of all, a kitten! We named her Bella, but not after the Bella you're thinking of. Her full name is Portobella Mushroom. Because she is colored like one. We don't have her yet, because she's still a bit too young to be taken away from her mother. But in a few weeks, maybe.

And now, my hands hurt from typing on this little screen. So I'm gonna stop for a little bit, haha.

OMG CHEMISTRY CLASS IS AWESOME.

We blew stuff up today. By accident, though. We were learning about Chemical reactions, and Mr. Bailey was showing us some examples. For one, he put small chunk of Sodium metal in a glass of water. It was only supposed to catch on fire and burn, apparently. But suddenly, this lovely fireworks display came shooting out, almost raining down on the kids in the front row. Then there was a pop, and the rest of the metal split into three pieces and flew across the room. The pyro in me was grinning, I know it was.

And then we did a whole bunch of other stuff, including creating a column of flame and burning something so bright we weren't allowed to watch it, or else it might have made us go blind.

I'm gonna go do my homework now. :)

I am SO GLAD that rumor was true! Gerard and Lyn-Z baby, yay! I'm all smiles right now. =D

Anyway, sorry I haven't updated in so long. I've just been busy. So, I went to see Cobra Starship last week. I don't feel like writing a full review right now, so I'll just give an overview. The two opening bands were okay, but not amazing. Forever The Sickest Kids was decent. But Cobra was incredible, as usual. I danced and sang and ruined my voice. But I can't complain. Gabe's throat must be killing him. :( He should have canceled, but I can kinda understand how he didn't wanna let people down.

I didn't stick around after the show to meet them, because of exhaustion and dehydration, but hopefully I'll see them again this coming year. Then I can get a chance to say hi. Also, Gabe better get surgery by then. Or I will spam his Twitter with messages telling him to do so.

Speaking of Twitter, Lol at Gerard and Bob. I had to turn phone updates off on them, because they were gonna use up all my text messages if I didn't. And holy shit, Gerard. 5 shots of espresso in your coffee? Wow. I bet you're still 100% awake, unless you've built up an immunity to caffeine or something.

School has been going well, but I need to start working on my big essay. 3 to 5 pages, but it's double spaced, so I should be okay.

Also, EVERYONE needs to check out a band called Hotspur. I met them at the Cobra show, and they gave me a free mixtape of their songs. It's amazing stuff.

I got Animal Crossing: City Folk. It's win, as usual. I need to get Sonic Unleashed too, but I'll probably wait until Christmas.

And I don't know if I told you guys, but I got a gorgeous new guitar. It's a Schecter Blackjack, and it's incredible. I really like Schecter. Their guitars are sturdy, and they sound great.

I've recently watched Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. That movie is incredible, and I think I need to play the preceding game. The story sounds absolutely fascinating. I played it once when I was little, but I probably didn't really understand it then. And it was rented, so I didn't get far. Not only that, but it kept freezing up.

Speaking of movies, my f-list may hate me for this, but TWILIGHT FTW. The movie was MUCH better than I expected. I loved it.

So, I think this entry has gone on long enough. I'll try to update more often, I'm being a bad LJ friend.

I am so excited. I'm about to start the last story on Sonic Adventure. I finally decided I'd make a serious effort to beat the game, since I've already beaten nearly every other Sonic game I own. I say nearly, because I have yet to get through Sonic Chronicles. :( I am so behind.

The only thing motivating me to post is my semi-new icon. Halloween Hedgie! Haha.

I downloaded the entirety of the Sonic Adventure 2 soundtrack today. I forgot how much I liked it. I think after I post this I'm gonna play the game a bit.

Another thing I have downloaded recently is the leaked version of Sonic Chronicles. I'm definitely gonna go buy that game. It's awesome. And the dialogue is so much better than anything Sonic Team could come up with.

I am totally watching the Presidential debate live on Myspace and eating popcorn. Hell yeah.

EDIT: I either missed it, or they didn't discuss gay rights, but I'm sure it will come up eventually. It's not exactly one of the most important issues right now. A lot of things preside over it. Like the crappy economy.

ANOTHER EDIT: I love this one guy's comment: "I mean if people have a problem with it then they just don't go to a gay wedding. See, problem fucking solved!"

1. Post these rules.
2. Each tagged person must post 8 things about themselves on their journal.
3. At the end, you have to choose and tag 8 people
4. No tag-backs.

Whoo! Eight things about me.
1- My dream is to be a musician for a living. Which is a tall order, so I'll probably end up doing something else.
2- My guitar's name is Pandora.
3- I like my glasses better than contacts, but my contacts are more convenient.
4- I really like Forever The Sickest Kids.
5- Eoin Colfer is my favorite author.
6- I love making icons.
7- There are currently 1021 songs in my iTunes. More to be added very soon.
8- By the looks of it, Madina Lake will always be my favorite band.

I'm lazy, so I'm only gonna tag two people:

Current Music: Hawthorne Heights - Until The Judgment Day | Scrobbled by Last.fm
I picked up Hawthorne Height's new album today. I've only gotten through the first seven songs, but it's amazing so far. I highly recommend picking it up.

Also, I really want to go see Black Gold on October 30th. They're gonna be two and a half hours away. But they're supporting a band I really don't like. Tickets are $12, but is it really worth it if all I'm gonna be interested in is BG? I mean, BG is probably one of my top favorite bands. But maybe I should wait until they tour their new album to see them.

EDIT: Code Geass has been moved to 5 AM on Adult Swim? How incredibly lame. You know, just because I watch it at 2 AM, doesn't mean I'll watch it at 5 AM. Good thing we have a DVR! =D
